Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently across various routes, and have access to the port locations in the HRM

This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to handle freight with care. The Truck Driver will also be expected to perform minor automotive repairs and maintenance on the vehicle as needed.

Duties

  • Operate trucks to transport freight to designated locations in a timely manner.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling of goods.
  • Maintain accurate ELOG of driving hours, mileage, and fuel consumption requirements
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues that arise during transport.
  • Perform basic automotive repairs and maintenance on the truck as needed.
  • Operate heavy equipment and forklifts when required for loading or unloading freight.

Experience

  • Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid commercial driver's license (CDL). We are looking for 3 years , Canadian driving ( with winter ) experience , with references .
  • Clean Abstract
  • Familiarity with container operation is preferred.
  • Experience in basic truck- auto repair is a plus, enabling the driver to address minor mechanical issues independently.
  • Previous experience operating forklifts is beneficial for efficient loading and unloading of freight.
  • A strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in freight transportation.

      The Logistics Yard Foreman oversees daily yard operations, ensuring efficient movement, storage, and organization of cargo, containers, and equipment. This role manages a team of yard workers, coordinates with drivers and logistics partners, and maintains safety and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise cargo handling, loading/unloading, and yard activities 
  • Supervise and direct vessel cargo operations
  • Coordinate daily logistics tasks with terminal staff 
  • Ensure safe work practices and operational efficiency 
  • Work with truck drivers, warehouse staff, and logistics teams.
  • Resolve delays, disputes, or operational issues.
  • Communicate with supervisors on yard status and need
  • Oversee basic equipment checks (forklifts, trailers, etc.).
  • Report maintenance needs and ensure tools and gear are in working order.
  • Assist with minor repairs if needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience in logistics, terminal, or industrial operations 
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills 
  • Forklift/heavy equipment experience is an asset 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions.
  • Comfortable standing, walking, and climbing for long periods.
  • May require forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).

    Work Environment:
  • Outdoor/indoor yard (exposure to noise, dust, and weather).
  • Shift work (days, nights, weekends, or overtime as needed).
  • Fast-paced, hands-on role with a focus on safety and efficiency.
